Start-up Company Dodges Political Paralyses by Manufacturing Practical Solution to Provide Protection Against Mass Shootings.
A tech-minded e-commerce company has designed and manufactured an original, people-first answer to provide protection against the threat of mass Shootings. The invention, named the CoverMe-Seat, is a portable folding seat that can be transformed into a bulletproof vest. In total, converting from seat to vest can be carried out in a few seconds. The portable seat preserves the entire chest and back of the wearer from some of the most powerful handgun rounds and with the addition of a rear plate it can stop ammo fired from an AR-15-style weapon, making the CoverMe-Seat more protective than bulletproof backpacks, jackets and even most vests.
“Nobody wants to have to consider staying safe from gunfire,” said Aaron Ansel, the Founder of Practical Protection, who is also a product-safety attorney. “The lawmakers in this country absolutely need to pass common-sense firearm laws, which we support, but while that’s being worked on, we wanted a viable solution, so we came up with our own.”
The stadium-style seat is more protective than bulletproof backpacks because it shields the front and back of the person wearing it. Also, with the back plate, you are protected against AR-15 rounds, something that nearly no other product is capable of. The invention weighs only about five pounds, or about the same as a bag of potatos.
Andrew Enke, Chief Engineer, has years of experience in the medical device industry. “We designed the CoverMe-Seat to be simple but extremely effective and fail-save. Our premise was that most people are not going to put on a bulletproof coat whenever they go to work or school. Our goal was to get over the idea that bulletproof protection requires compromise.”
CoverMe-Seat is available now for $100 for a limited time at covermeseat.com.
